About The Common Core State Standards

Go Back

The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are a set of shared goals and expectations of knowledge and skills that students will need to be successful in a global environment. The development of CCSS was a state-led effort to create rigorous, internationally benchmarked standards. Though adoption of the CCSS is not federally mandated, a large majority of states have chosen to adopt and begin implementing them.

Recognizing that the transition from old standards to new may be daunting for many teachers and administrators, Align, Assess, Achieve has created The Common Core: Clarifying Expectations for Teachers and Students, a series of easy to use English Language Arts and Math curriculum guides for grades K through 12. These straightforward flip books help unpack the CCSS, so that teachers can focus on implementation.

Although the guides were designed to stand alone, we also offer training on how to make the Enduring Understandings, Essential Questions and learning targets found in the flipbooks come to life in the classroom, for educators interested in hands-on training
